About the Beneficiary of the Event – Ottawa Food Bank
“The Ottawa Food Bank was founded in the basement of the former police station on Waller Street in 1984. Originally intended to be temporary in nature, the Ottawa Food Bank has grown to become a staple food relief organization in the Region. Today, we support 140 emergency food programs that feed approximately 48,000 people per month – 37 per cent of whom are children.
Our mission: To collect and distribute food to Member Agencies serving people in need in the Ottawa area.
Our vision: That no one goes hungry in the Ottawa area.”
Come and join the fun! Thanks to all that help to make this work!
I emigrated to Ottawa 11 years a go from Colombia South America and through all these years I have been blessed with support and space for my photography, my photo-fine-art and my music. I started my career in Ottawa as photographer; many Ottawa locations have been the inspiration for my photo-fine-art and I have made many friends that right now more than friends, are family. I owe Ottawa a lot!
I would like to participate in this contest not as Photo-Fine-Artist but as a photographer. I hope I can make it…!
A photographic work of art, celebrities are taking part.
All trying to capture one great shot, and show you just what Ottawa’s got.
I’d love to be part of the scene, a photographer who’s very keen
No pro for sure but always trying, to get a picture that worth buying.
After reading fine print I realize the only catagory I qualify in is EXCITEMENT AT THE PROSPECT!! There are over 50years of visions ,some gone, some everlasting, travelling the streets by foot and car, through alleyways and parks.I’ve worked catering in embassies musems midnight cruises and most other venues. Throught the years,I have accummlated many photos of our gret city.Sure they are cell phone photos, unretouched, and a good as a 5mp camera takes. But if one uses composition timing and color some of mine I’m quite proud of! I had.to ask, seems like something I woulf love
Oh how fun is this? I would love to have a chance to play along. Pick me, pick me! I’ve spent most of the last 10 years blogging in words and photos about how much I love Ottawa and what a great place it is to raise a family. Because I work downtown and live in the semi-rural south, every day I get to see – and photograph! – a spectrum of what makes this city great. I’d love to be able to help out the Ottawa Food Bank, too. Pick meeeeeee! 🙂
How *fun* is this contest?! I’m not pro, but would love to participate – and get my digital marketing students involved in the process. We could blog, tweet, tumble, and pin all the great things about Ottawa and why we love it. And of course snap some stellar pics! I think I’d get teams of students to do a Pecha Kucha presentation (http://www.pechakucha.org/) and we’d choose the best pics to present! My fingers are crossed!
My name is Kate Settle and I’m an image addict. Phew. That feels better. I’m an emerging photographer (3 years in business) specializing in the messy, crazy, joyous, stinky, belly-laugh-filled world of photographing Ottawa’s children. My style is authentic and high spirited as I try to see the little things that sometimes escape the eye, but tell the real story of a space in time.
Since September I have had the privilege of working with children in an Ottawa public elementary school, right from kindergarten through grade 6 to teach photographic skills and help them create images that reflect their passions, needs and how they see their community. As we work though the project my way of seeing Ottawa, and all that it contains has shifted and broadened in a may I could not have imagined.
I’d love to focus on Ottawa through my lens, and look forward to an opportunity to see how others from this great line up do the same.
I consider myself as a VERY enthusiastic photographer, (www.robertmckenziephotographer.com) to the point where I’m actually starting to provide some services for payment ($$$) A small start as it may be, yet I see there’s a potential for a P/T business based on a strong photographic passion, a great love of people and an unending gratefulness for the beauty of this environment I live in.
I would love to be part of this exciting opportunity and hereby toss my hat into this ring for your consideration.
Thanks everyone – we got many requests for the available spots by comments here and by email. We will be evaluating the candidates over the weekend and announcing the public participants on Monday!
Stay tuned!
The response was so strong we are looking at ways for people to participate in a tandem contest in an online way.
What an excellent idea. You do not have to travel far to take great photos in this city and would love to be able to help out. Good luck!
