Our ‘Summer Sport Photography Workshop’ with Blair Gable brings you face to camera with an Ottawa Sooners football game of the Ontario Football Conference!
The concepts learned in this session help you shoot all types of photo events – soccer, lacrosse, field hocky, baseball, rugby, ultimate frisbee. The skills Blair shares help you develop better systems for shooting any event.

Live the life of a sports photographer! This workshop is aimed at intermediate or advanced photographers. You will learn first hand the challenges and fun of shooting fast paced sports from one of the most successful Ottawa photojournalists currently working.

About Blair Gable
Blair currently works as an independent photojournalist supplying photo work to Reuters, MacLeans magazine, Globe and Mail, and many other national and international magazines, newspapers and agencies.
Blair has photographed the NHL All Star Game, FIFA World Cup Soccer, Toronto Blue Jays, Ottawa Sooners, rugby, hockey for his media outlets.
Blair started working as a photographer/reporter/page designer for small newspapers, the Ottawa Citizen and the Ottawa Sun. In his early years he covered enough sports and events to rise to the top of the field.
Blair is a sought after shooter. He has also photographed Obama, the Queen, Princess Kate, politicians, thugs and celebrities for different media outlets.
Students will be guided by Blair to be creative, focused and quick on their feet in order to make great images. There will be on-field instruction as the game goes on.

Equipment Requirements: Sports photography is one genre where gear is as important as ability! Students are required to bring a 35mm SLR digital camera with a manual setting option – no point and shoot, please. Students should have access to a 200mm or stronger lens for the course. Other, wider lenses can be beneficial. Renting equipment is often a good option for big equipment. Blair may have some Canon gear with him that can be used if necessary.
